2026 Metro Fire Chiefs Conference – Milwaukee, Wisconsin (June 7–11, 2026)

The 2026 Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Conference, hosted by the Milwaukee Fire Department, will convene fire service leaders from North America and around the world to address the strategic, operational, and policy challenges shaping the future of global fire and emergency services.

This year’s educational program is intentionally structured around the following core themes:

  • Strengthening executive-level leadership capacity and succession planning within metropolitan fire departments.
  • Improving national coordination, advocacy alignment, and federal engagement across the fire service ecosystem.
  • Translating emerging science (AI, EV hazards, PFAS, behavioral health) into actionable policy and operational change for metropolitan departments.
  • Protecting firefighter health through evidence-based policy, behavioral health innovation, and contamination risk mitigation.
  • Positioning Metro as a global convener and ensuring international interoperability.
  • Engaging in high-level building policy debates that balance housing development pressures with fire and life safety standards.

The conference reflects Metro’s commitment to advancing strategic leadership while addressing the operational realities facing large metropolitan departments.
