Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association Recognized as a 2026 National Firefighter Registry for Cancer Champion
The Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association is proud to be recognized as a 2026 National Firefighter Registry for Cancer Champion.
This designation reflects the Metro’s continued commitment to advancing firefighter health and safety and promoting participation in the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer.
More than 50,000 firefighters have already enrolled, and their participation is producing meaningful results. Registry data is being used in published research, ongoing analyses, and the NFR Data Dashboard to help researchers better understand cancer in the fire service and identify ways to reduce its impact.
More participation is still needed. The NFR hopes to double enrollment in the coming year, and every eligible firefighter can help strengthen this important research.
The Metro encourages fire service leaders to share NFR information throughout their departments, provide firefighters with time and assistance to enroll, and encourage active and retired firefighters – with or without a cancer diagnosis – to participate.
Together, we can strengthen the data, advance the research, and help reduce the impact of cancer across the fire service.
